Harkla's Core Principles

Harkla has one mission: Help families raise happy and healthy children with special needs.

This mission is at the core of everything we do. Every decision is centered around the question of “how does this help our customers?”

We try to accomplish this through:

  • Free content (YouTube, social media, podcast, etc.)
  • Online courses for therapists, parents, and educators
  • High-quality physical sensory products

The way we differentiate ourselves from our competition is by always asking, how can we be more helpful? In customer service, our blog, or post-purchase information, we want to be more helpful.

Harkla's Core Principles:

  • Our customers are at the core of our business. We are helping families raise children with autism, ADHD, and sensory issues. Keep this in mind with every decision.
  • You are responsible for your work. Tell what you are going to do versus asking for permission.
  • Mistakes are OK. Not extracting lessons and implementing those into future processes is not OK.
  • Lead with questions, not answers.
  • Expect dialogues & debates. We are passionate people trying to do something great.
  • 100% of all energy and resources go to our core focus.
  • We are a systems-based company. Freedom of thought comes from a foundation of discipline.
  • Freedom and responsibility within the framework of a highly developed system.

Harkla is a highly autonomous, hard-working group of people trying to change the world of special needs for the better. This is a great environment for hungry, self-starters who want the ability to learn, grow, and make a large social impact.

This is not a great environment for people who want a comfortable, repeatable, straightforward job, and don’t want the responsibility that comes with a flexible, autonomous work position.

Role Overview

You will own strategy and execution for all organic social channels with a single North-Star KPI: sales growth attributed to social (tracked in Triple Whale). The role is hybrid; you will collaborate in-person with our in-house OT content team twice weekly but are not required to appear on camera. Instead, you will:

  • Translate trends into briefs for therapists and other on-camera talent.
  • Create and schedule platform-specific assets.
  • Drive community engagement and influencer seeding.

Key Responsibilities

Area What You’ll Own
Platform Management & Growth • Grow existing channels: YouTube (videos + Shorts), Instagram, Facebook (including VIP group), LinkedIn.
• Launch and scale TikTok & Pinterest within the first 6 months.
Content Planning & Publishing • Build and maintain a rolling 4-week content calendar.
• Write concise briefs for therapists; align hooks, CTAs, and formats with platform algorithms.
• Schedule natively or via approved tools; A/B thumbnails, captions, and posting times.
Trend & Performance Analysis • Stay current on social trends; rapidly test relevant formats.
• Use native analytics and Triple Whale dashboards to report weekly on revenue, reach, engagement, and CAC payback.
Community Management • Monitor and reply to comments/DMs across all channels within SLA.
• Deploy ManyChat flows on IG and FB to convert engagement into email/SMS captures and sales.
Influencer & UGC Outreach • Identify and initiate relationships with niche influencers, therapists, and parent creators; pass qualified partners to the e-commerce team for formal collaboration.
Cross-Team Collaboration • Supply top-performing organic assets to the paid-ads team for creative testing.
• Coordinate with email/SMS and product teams on launches, promotions, and campaigns.

AI Proficiency Standard

To accelerate output and maintain a competitive edge, we expect the Social Media Manager to be comfortable using AI tools to enhance their workflow:

  • Use generative-AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Canva Magic, Opus Clip, etc.) to draft and iterate social captions, scripts, and creative variants.
  • Maintain a living prompt library; refine prompts to remove bias, improve tone, and raise click-through rates.
  • Run AI-driven A/B tests (headlines, hooks, thumbnails) and demonstrate lifts in CTR or engagement.
  • Share AI learnings and workflow optimizations with the marketing team.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years managing multi-channel social media for an e-commerce or content-heavy brand.
  • Demonstrated success using AI to ideate, iterate, and optimize social content (see AI standard above).
  • Working knowledge of ManyChat (or similar chat-automation) and basic video editing.
  • Exceptional written communication; able to brief on-camera talent clearly and concisely.
  • Proactive, trend-curious, and comfortable owning revenue-tied KPIs.
