Sensory Body Sock

“My 7-year-old twins have sensory integration issues & this meets both of their needs. They enjoy experimenting with what feels good & they seek the sock out on their own when they need some sensory input.”

Product Activity Guide

Do you wish your child had an easier time relaxing? The Harkla Body Sock is designed with autism and sensory issues in mind. Your child will love to play, stretch, or relax in our sensory sock! It also gives the tactile benefit for seekers because it is soft and stretchy to the touch. The body sock provides calming and organizing input all over the body at the same time.

Not only do sensory socks help to soothe and calm, but a body sock can also encourage your child to explore their movements by pressing and stretching the material. The Harkla Body Sock gives immediate feedback to the tactile and proprioceptive systems when it is worn, both in one static position or used for dynamic movement based tasks. Start developing right away with the activity guide created by occupational therapists provided in each package.

Designed with double-stitched seams & strong snaps instead of velcro.

The Science Of The Sock

The science behind the Harkla Body Sock is called Tactile and Proprioceptive Input & Deep Touch Pressure (DTP). DTP is simply distributed weight across the body. If you'd like to read more about the natural benefits of DTP, we wrote a guide to it here.

By providing DTP to the whole body and adding resistance to every movement, children get extra proprioceptive input with the body sock. It promotes body awareness - knowing where your body is in space. Body socks can give a feeling of calm, relaxation and incresase focus & attention. If you'd like to dive into the studies about body socks and the science behind them, we wrote an article on it here.

She won’t take it off!

Bought this as a gift for a girl with sensory issues and dyslexia. She loves it and puts it on as soon as she gets home from school!

Fantastic quality. My son loves the material.

Nice feeling fabric. Buttons are super sturdy.

A review by an adult with Autism

If you're a fellow autist reading these reviews, I reckon here are some of the things you might be wondering about...The fabric has that characteristics lycra smell to it. You may want to air it out or give it a wash with your preferred detergent before use. The fabric is soft and breathable, and makes for an interesting sensory experience. It's the lovechild of a Snuggie and a onesie. Unlike either, it actually keeps my feet warm while the rest of me stays a reasonable temperature. The seams could use some refining, but not for strength. If you're bothered by overlock-stitched seams (think like how most t-shirts are stitched), you may need to find a different body sock. There are seams at bottom and top, and one down the middle in front. You could turn it inside out, but you may still find the seams a bit rough.I was surprised at how much range of motion I had in it. The fabric has, like, juuuust the right amount of stretch to allow me to move around relatively uninhibited. I was surprised that I could walk around in it with ease. I could see myself wearing it to a costume party lol. The snaps don't hold as well as I'd like. I get it; it's for safety, but it might be nice to have a version with stronger snaps meant for adults...?The only other improvement I would want to see is more options for size, especially width.

Great fun and we'll made

Really well made and so much fun. One of our children has sensory needs but this was bought for our toddler who doesn't as she loves her big sisters body sock so much! The poppers work much better than velcro versions we've had in the past which tend to catch and damage the fabric.

Excellent quality

Excellent quality item. The lycra is thick and the seams and fastenings are strong. We're using this for dance and movement so it's really been put to the test. I would highly recommend!
