How Heavy Should My Weighted Blanket Be?
The rule of thumb for a weighted blanket is to be 10% of your body weight, plus a pound or two. So for a 60-pound child, our 7-pound blanket would work best. Click here to see our heavier blanket options.

What Are the Dimensions of the Blankets?
What is the Science Behind Weighted Blankets?
The science behind weighted blankets is called Deep Touch Pressure (DTP). DTP is simply distributed weight across the body. If you'd like to read more about the natural benefits of DTP, we wrote a guide to it here.
DTP releases serotonin in the body which turns into melatonin, as well as decreased nervous system activity. These combine to give a feeling of calm, relaxation and naturally improved sleep. If you'd like to dive into the studies about weighted blankets and the science behind them, we wrote an article on it here.
Who Do Weighted Blankets Work for?
Weighted blankets have historically been used for those with special needs, commonly referred to as autism blankets. However, they are beneficial to most people. Especially people who suffer from sleep issues.
If you'd like to dive into the benefits of weighted blankets for specific people, we have some articles covering that here:
Some families have used our weighted blankets for toddlers. We recommend the user be at least 2 years and up before using a toddler weighted blanket.
Do Weighted Blankets Work for Adults?

My 11-yr-old daughter gets anxiety at bedtime as she struggles falling asleep right away. I contemplated getting this blanket for awhile...I wasn’t sure if it would work, and it was a risk with the cost. Verdict: IT WORKS, and it is WORTH EVERY PENNY!! Ever since she has had it, she falls asleep immediately! The soft textured nubs on the blanket are just perfect, better than any other weighted blankets I have seen out there. You won’t regret this purchase. Thank you, Harkla!
My son is 27. He in has borderline ASD and ADHD. He requested a weighted blanket. I purchased a 25lb. blanket for him. We thought the blanket was of good quality and he said for the first two nights he got the best sleep he had gotten for a long time (he has never been a good sleeper so this was very positive). Since then he has said he like sleeping under the blanket but doesn't think his sleep is as good as initially reported. This notwithstanding, we think this was a good purchase.
We have two of these blankets for our two boys. These are their favorites. They sleep with them every night and sometimes drag them around the house to play with also. We have a different weighted blanket that they don't care for at all. There's just something about these. They are soft, fluffy, a nice weight, warm but not hot. They're really snuggly. My boys sleep so much better with these blankets. Plus, I love that they are easy to wash. We've dealt with bed wetting and sickness and I can get the blanket clean without much fuss.
